Corporate Responsibility

Corporate Responsibility

Our philosophy is to provide the highest standards in the mechanical engineering industry. All PJD customers receive a service they can rely on, delivered in a way that exceeds technical, environmental and economic expectations.

Health and safety is at the forefront of everything we do. We understand that it's a key requirement for our business to be the best-in-class. That's why we're the leading UK contractor for HSE requirements, ensuring our Accident Frequency Rate (AFR) has not exceeded 0.22 in the past three years. It's not just essential for us to maintain this excellent record, we've also strived to constantly improve, and through initiatives such as the British Safety Council Five Star audit, we'll keep looking for ways to improve - as we have in 2010 with an AFR of 0.17.

Our procedures enable us to consistently deliver exceptional results for our customers through a systematic programme of quality assurance. For example, our weld defect rate is much lower than those typically classed as best practice in the UK engineering construction sector (99.37%), making our level of re-work exceptionally low.

We carry out site work in the most environmentally-friendly way possible and our objective is to become the greenest business in our market. We've adopted consistent environmental policies across the business, using company cars and looking at the running and maintenance of our offices. We will continue to benchmark ourselves not just against the rest of the industry but other environmentally leading UK companies too.

We also believe strongly in people development. We recruit annually for the PJD engineering apprentice programme and all managers, supervisors and trades people receive structured training to suit their role.
